Bamboo People
Mama, Karl and I read a book called Bamboo People. It is written by Mitali Perkins. The book is set in 2010. It is a book about two boys who are both Burmese. One of them is ethnic minority and the other is not. The boys names are Chiko and Tu Reh. The army kidnaps Chiko and takes him to a training camp. Then the army starts training the boys. Chiko makes a friend called Tai while he was at the camp. Tai trys to escape but the captain finds him and smacks him with a bamboo pole. Chiko goes on a mission and gets his leg injured. Tu Reh finds him and takes him to a healer who splints his leg, but says he needs to go to a real doctor as he probably needs his leg amputated. At Tu Reh's camp, the people were suspiocious of Tu Reha nd the soldier, Chiko, but eventually they agreed to let Chiko leave so he could be taken by the doctor to get a replacement leg. Chiko then goes home and finds his friend Tai at his house. They had news and the news was that his dad was coming home (his dad had been a doctor but was put in prison for being against the government). Tai had got a job as a clerk at the office in Yangon (after Chiko had taught him to read and write while they were training to be Army soldiers) and asked for Chiko's dad. Daw Widow visited him and asked the army to let him out and they said yes.

Save the white whale
Save the white whale
By Geronimo Stilton
In Save the White Whale Geronimo asked Petunia to go to the Bay of Whales. They are staying at Whales and Tails by the Sea. They need to pay to go on to the beach so they do pay. Geronimo collapses in a chair when Petunia, Bugsy and Benjamin went for a walk on the beach. Petunia, Bugsy and Benjamin go and check out the games room. The next day Geronimo piles a lot of food on his plate. Geronimo feels seasick on the whale watching cruise. Late that night they find a white humpback whale stranded on the beach. Finally the Bay of Whales was made a protected Marine Park.

The Emerald City of Oz
The Emerald City of Oz
By L.Frank Baum.
Dorothy's Uncle and Aunty grew poorer every year and could not pay the mortgage on their farm. One day a banker said to Uncle Henry that they had to pay the money in thirty days otherwise they had to give up the farm. Uncle Henry did not tell Dorothy because he was afraid that his niece would not be happy. One day Dorothy found her Uncle and Aunty crying so she asked them what was wrong and she was crying at the end.
They thought that if Dorothy brought home an emerald from the land of Oz it would leave their farm free forever. However she did not bring home an emerald because she had no time.
I liked this book because Dorothy goes to stay in the land of Oz. The book was easy to read as the words were not so hard.
However, it is sad because the author got a feather and it said "You will never hear anything more about Oz, because we are now cut off forever from the rest of the world. But Toto and I will always love you and all the other children who love us. Dorothy Gale."
