America Trip Day #3 & #4 Disneyland

On Thursday morning we got up early to go to breakfast so we could go to Disneyland in California America. We decided to go to Disney California Adventure Park which has places like Cars Land, A Bugs Land, Paradise Pier, Hollywood Land, Pacific Wharf, Grizzly Peak, Condor Flats and Buena Vista Street. The most popular land was Cars Land. The first ride we went on was California Screaming which I was not screaming on because it was not scary at all. Next we went on Toy Story Midway Mania's which you need to shoot at the things that have points on them. On one of the walls the points were on plates. Our dad's score on that was over 115,000 but his accuracy was 29 because he missed more shots than he shot. My score was 34500 and my accuracy was 35. After that we did more rides including a race at Radiator Springs. At Radiator Springs you race around the track with another car. Our car won the race. We were in a light blue car and the car we were versing was grey.

On Friday morning we got up early as well to go to Disneyland Resort. The first ride we went on was Star Tours which is a motion master where you fly around in a spaceship to try and get back to base with C3P0 driving the spaceship. The second ride we went on Auto Topia where you get in cars and drive round the track and try not to bump on to each others cars. I am a crazy driver. On some of the race we went off track and drove in the rocks. We also went on a roller coaster where you get wet on and I got less wet than my mum. I tricked my mum to go on the side where you get wet. We also went on space mountain which is in the dark. Space Mountain is a roller coaster which I got scared on. We also went on the Matterhorn. We also went on Splash Mountain. There was a show called Jedi Training Academy which Karl and I really liked. Before the end we went on a Buzz Lightyear ride and Papa won again. We also saw the fireworks display before we left. The fireworks display was awesome.

We are at Auckland Airport and we are waiting to get on the plane. It is nearly time to get on the plane so we are sitting down waiting. We have checked in and gone through customs and security and we are ready to board the plane. The plane we are going on is right outside our window. The plane is blue with Air Tahiti Nui written on the side. It is getting close to the time to board.

Mindlab

On Thursday 13 March Karl, Mama and I went to Mindlab with Gifted Kids. First when we got there we sat down in the days we go to Gifted Kids. First my group went to the science lab to test how you can make rockets with a film canister, Baking soda and Vinegar. We all succeeded with it.

After we did that we had our morning-tea and then we went to programme robots into racing car robots witch was very cool. The main thing to remember about robots is that they are dumb.

After that we went back and had our lunch. Next we had a play on Scratch, which is a website where you can make sounds which sound like musical instruments. After that we headed back to the Gifted Kids building at Stanhope Soad school.

Round the Bays 2014

For the past 4 years our family has competed in Round the Bays, an 8.4km run round the waterfront. This year we competed again as part of Compac Sorting Equipment (our dad's work). This year we did our personal bests:
  • Robin - 50.10
  • Karl - 50.12
  • Tsana - 50.51
  • Eric - 51.38
One of our Dad's work colleges got first in Round the Bays once again in a time of 25.56.

Many teachers are working on their health and fitness and also competed this year. Their times ranged from 52.57 to 1.52.58. Well done to the teachers!!

During the race I got tired very fast because we were running most of the way. However I was glad I did it in less than an hour and I feel good that I did it.

Save the white whale

Save the white whale

By Geronimo Stilton

In Save the White Whale Geronimo asked Petunia to go to the Bay of Whales. They are staying at Whales and Tails by the Sea. They need to pay to go on to the beach so they do pay. Geronimo collapses in a chair when Petunia, Bugsy and Benjamin went for a walk on the beach. Petunia, Bugsy and Benjamin go and check out the games room. The next day Geronimo piles a lot of food on his plate. Geronimo feels seasick on the whale watching cruise. Late that night they find a white humpback whale stranded on the beach. Finally the Bay of Whales was made a protected Marine Park.

Flying in a four seater

Uncle Malcolm has his private pilot licence (PPL)  and as a special treat he arranged to take Karl, Mama and I for a flight in a Cessna 172 which only has four seats.

Our flight yesterday took 48 minutes, from Whenuapai, out over  Eden Park, Alexandra Park Raceway, Ellerslie Racecourse, Mt Wellington quarry, our house ! and Glenbrae School, Musick Point (where Mama and Papa got engaged), Waiheke Island, Motutapu, Rangitoto, North Head and Devenport, buzzed round the Sky Tower and over the Auckland Museum, and back to Whenuapai past the Chelsea sugar factory.

It was so awesome up flying in the sky in a small plane.  We were quite low to the ground and could see heaps.
