At the finishing point I was so tired . The start is the Maritime Museum in New Zealand. The finish is Onehunga. I did it with Mama, Papa and Karl. It is one of a few countries that you can walk across in a day.Me and Karl went on our scooters and Mama and Papa walked.
This blog is a record of my learning from Glenbrae School through to Tamaki College and beyond!

On Christmas Day we went to our uncle's house in Hamilton. His name is Oom Ron and he is my dad's brother. His wife's name is Tante Norma. She did a lot of things for lunch. My Oma and Opa came to lunch. After that we opened our presents from them. It was fantastic. My favourite present was the Captain Rex helmet for Oom Ron and Tante Norma. My favourite food was the sausages.

Orana Park
Orana Park
Orana Park was made in 1976 and they only had 28 animals then and now they have over 300 animals including lions, tigers and cheetahs. We went there on the Saturday 30 November. I went there with Mama, Nana and Karl.
The ones standing up are males and they lost their manes because they were castrated and they stopped making testosterone. This was because they are all related and would fight if they were left as they were.
These calves were in the farmyard area and are so cute. I am patting the brown cow and Karl is patting the black cow
We saw some giraffes and we got to feed them too. They are so strong that they pulled the branch off me.
We saw some keas feeding and here's a photo. The one with the yellow around the eyes and nose is a younger kea and the one with black is an older kea. They have red and orange under wings.
My favourite animal was the lion because of how tall the males were.

Birthday
In the week-end it was Karl's birthday. Karl, some friends and I slept in a tent. We had a barbecue dinner and watched a movie. The movie was Revenge of the Sith Star Wars 3. My dad and I watched the end because Karl had to go out to his friends. Before that we had a fire in a fire pit and toasted marshmallows. After the movie I went to bed. It was so fun being in a tent again.

Tahuna Torea
Yesterday Karl, Mama and I went to Tahuna Torea Reserve to look and walk around. We saw a couple of fantails on the way down to the carpark from the Godwit's lookout. Karl and I were playing Zombies vs Humans while we were walking along the tracks and Mama was our navigator.
We also saw lots of trees there including Nikau Palm, Kowhai, Kauri, Tree Ferns, Manuka, Mangrove, Pohutakawa, Flax and many others. The weather was fine and I had a marvelous time.

Biking
On Sunday Karl, Papa and I went to Manukau Bike Park. There were tracks for: Easy, Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. I liked the easy and beginners because they had bridges that I could bike across without getting off. Once I was walking over a bridge in the advanced and my bike's back wheel went in to muddy water and did not like it at all. My bike is a red bike. At the end I was happy to have done it. Yippee!

The Emerald City of Oz
The Emerald City of Oz
By L.Frank Baum.
Dorothy's Uncle and Aunty grew poorer every year and could not pay the mortgage on their farm. One day a banker said to Uncle Henry that they had to pay the money in thirty days otherwise they had to give up the farm. Uncle Henry did not tell Dorothy because he was afraid that his niece would not be happy. One day Dorothy found her Uncle and Aunty crying so she asked them what was wrong and she was crying at the end.
They thought that if Dorothy brought home an emerald from the land of Oz it would leave their farm free forever. However she did not bring home an emerald because she had no time.
I liked this book because Dorothy goes to stay in the land of Oz. The book was easy to read as the words were not so hard.
However, it is sad because the author got a feather and it said "You will never hear anything more about Oz, because we are now cut off forever from the rest of the world. But Toto and I will always love you and all the other children who love us. Dorothy Gale."

Chipping up wood
On Saturday my dad used a wood chipper to chip up wood. He got a size 8 for a size 6 price because they gave the size 6 to somebody else. He had all ready cut the hedge down so he didn't need to on the day. He cut 3m off the top and 1m off the side of our back hedge.

Walk to the Sky Tower
On Monday we did a walk to the Sky Tower from home in Glen Innes and Karl and I went on our scooters while mama walked. It was 11.8km.
Before we left, we got everything we needed: food, water, raincoat, and our backpacks. Karl and I also had our helmets.
On the way, we talked to a man at the old boatsheds by Tamaki Drive. He showed us his boat and his bosses boat in another shed. His bosses boat was quite big and was 90 years old. His boat was a bit younger.
At the Ports of Auckland there were a few ships in the harbour. We saw lots of people on their BMX bikes who are here to compete in a tournament.
We got a bus home and on the bus ride, we saw a big roll-on roll-off ship that had docked while we were at the Sky Tower.
I felt happy at the end of our adventure because I did not think we would make it all the way, and yet we kept on going and succeeded. We did not give up!

Saturday and Sunday
On Saturday morning I didn't watch my brother play rugby for the first half of his game that he played but I did watch the second half of the game. It was at the home ground of his team. His team is called Marist Black Magic Under 10 Restricted. Karl is a forward. His team won. On Saturday night we went to the Rugby at Eden Park: Black Ferns vs England and the Black Ferns won. The Chiefs played the Blues and the Chiefs won the game. We did not watch the full game because we thought the Chiefs would win the game.
On Sunday, Oma, Oom Ron and Tante Norma took Karl and I swimming. We got to have some free time first, then we had our swimming lesson. We've both been swimming since we were babies, and I like swimming. If we go to the beach, I like to swim out far and my lessons have helped me with this.
As soon as swimming was finished, and we'd had our shower, we went to the Scout Hall for our Papa's birthday party. He had turned 50 on the 2nd July. He was born in 1963 in the Netherlands. Mama had decorated the hall with orange balloons as orange is the colour of the Netherlands. I had a fun time there because we got to play outside with friends and Karl and I went home in Uncle Malcolm's car. He let us play on his phone while he had a drink with Papa. Papa enjoyed his day.
